Wouldn't It Be Great If Somebody Said...
Are you a liberal?

If by liberal you mean one who extends mercy and grace to any who will receive it, one who believes God has a special concern for the marginalized of society, and one therefore who believes that advocacy for the marginalized is an essential dimension of human personhood, one who believes that care of the earth is a gospel issue, then my answer is, "I want to be the most faithful liberal I can be."

John Kennedy was asked this question a lot and he said, "If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil liberties, and their civil rights, - someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad; if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

Who could say it any better than that?

Where do you stand on Free Trade Agreements?

"Until the current free trade laws are reformed, we will live in a society where the label is protected, the logo is protected and the corporate product is protected, but not the human being who made it."

When my posts on other blogs are too long, I'll dump stuff here.

Maybe to be included in the liberal blogsphere's omnibus "I Tried to Stop This: What the reality-based community knew during the sanity interregnum."

Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total; of all those acts will be written the history of this generation. - R.F.K.
